MS tubes are safe and durable tubes that can withstand pressure fluctuations and moderates stress and are a popular choice as it is cost-effective. Mild steels contains a low carbon amount of 0.05% to 0.25% by weight. Even though MS tubes have tensile strength, shock resistance and good life expectancy, they have poor corrosion resistance thereby rendering it unusable in corrosion environments unless corrosion resistance coating is used.
 
Because of low carbon content, it is easier to handle them thereby enabling it to be transported with higher quantities than other tubes.
