Gate valves are one of the most commonly used full bore valves designed for fully open or fully closed service. They are used for all applications both above and below grounds as they are available in different variations. They also have very low pressure loss. They can be used in challenging environments such as high temperature and high pressure. Gate valves are usually not used as regulating valves, unless designed to serve that purpose. They can used for various types of fluids.
